Learning a bit about video

Learning a lot about video the past few months. This project happened when I was doing some
PR for Chicago Canine Rescue. We needed some b-roll to use when the local news was
running occasional blurbs about events or the organization. Jim Luning was kind enough
to donate his time and expertise for us. This is just a fun sample of the shoot and the dogs!
In the months that followed I got lucky enough to be involved in website work that included video.
I am finding out about shooting, Imovie, editing and sound!
I wish I was 20 so I could go to film school!!
But I am happy to be exposed to the video work so far, it is a ton of fun and very interesting.
Right now, I probably know about 2% of it- wow!!

Collage work

A few examples of my mixed media work. This type of work is actually easiest when I am putting it
together as the final piece- constucting, painting laying it out. It is actually harder when I am gathering the photographs I have taken, other images, and found objects, that make up the art. A vision, a thought in your head that has to become a reality with mixed media are usually pretty different!
In work like this, I am basing the piece on a certain subject matter, these pieces focused on death, not of lives, but of relationships and the paths they wove and eventually ended at.
The first piece was a lot of photographs of living spaces, and intersections. The art was a narrative on divorce and hesitation of starting a relationship soon after. The second piece is a commentary on what people think they see in other's relationships, as opposed to what is there.. The third piece was actually a small coffin that opened and was about the death of a marriage, legally and spiritually. Most of my art is based on personal themes, but I feel they are universal to the viewing audience.
